The navel alone is home to about 2,368 species of bacteria (and maybe more), but not everyone monitors its purity. And removing earwax with a cotton swab is actually dangerous and not at all necessary. It turns out that all this time, many of us did not take care of our bodies properly and did more harm than good to it.

Especially for our readers, Hop.mobi has found recommendations for proper hygiene of different parts of the body. And at the end of the article, you will find a bonus – how to safely treat the piercing area.

1. Navel

Most of us usually either do not keep our navel clean or clean it incorrectly. The navel needs to be cleaned once a  week in a special way. Take a cotton swab, soak it in rubbing alcohol and wipe your navel. Repeat the process until the stick is completely clean. Wipe the area with a clean cotton swab to remove any traces of alcohol. Avoid using body lotion.

2. Ears

We think there is no need to explain that it is strictly forbidden to remove earwax with nails or pointed objects. Instead, pour a few drops of baby oil or glycerin into your ear to loosen the earwax. After 1–2 days, gently pour warm water from a pipette or syringe into your ear. Tilt your head to the side and let the liquid drain. Blot your ear with a towel and repeat the previous steps if necessary. You can also use a cotton swab to clean the outside of your ear.

3. Language

According to experts, cleaning the tongue with a special scraper is the most effective way. The tongue should be brushed as often as the teeth. Place the scraper on the back of your tongue and, using light pressure, slowly move it towards the front. If you experience a gag reflex, simply adjust the position of the scraper.

4. Elbows

To avoid the accumulation of dead cells that give the elbows a dark shade, it is recommended to exfoliate the skin 1-2 times a week. To do this, you can use a scrub made at home or purchased from a store. The main thing is to gently rub it in a circular motion. Do not rub your elbows too hard, as this can only aggravate the skin condition.

5. Scalp

Because of the dead cells and excessive use of hair scalp is dirty, and it accumulates fat. To cleanse it, completely wet your hair before shampooing. Then mix water with shampoo and apply to scalp. If using conditioner, apply only to the ends of your hair.

6. Face

Foaming soaps and cleansing foams dry out your skin, so it’s best to avoid them. We recommend using a mild cleanser and lukewarm water. Apply to face, wait 60-90 seconds and rinse with water.

7. Back

When it comes to showering, reaching your back can be the hardest thing to do. Start by massaging your back with a dry, long-handled brush. Then wash your back with a long washcloth or massage washcloth.
